Gudi Padwa
Gudi Padwa is a Marathi festival celebrated when the Hindu New Year (known as 'Samvazzara' in Sanskrit) begins on that day. According to Panchan, Nav Samvatsar begins with the Pratipada of Shukla Paksha (Bright Fortnight) in the month of Chaitra.
Gudipadwa Muhurat
1. Samvatsala begins on the day when Pratipada (first day of the fortnight, also known as Padwa) predominates during sunrise.
2. If Pratipada rules the sunrise over his two days, the first day is considered a festival.
3. Navi Vash is celebrated on the beginning and ending days of Pratipada, if the sunrise of any day is not dominated by Pratipada.
For Adhik Maas (additional months are added every 32 months 16 days 8 gatis) follow these rules: Pratipada only. This is because Adhik Maas is only part of the original month. Therefore, Adhika Chaitra is considered part of the New Year along with his original Chaitra month.
